Our adventure began in April of 2008, when we sold our house (in Lafayette, LA) and furniture, and went out and bought our truck & RV. We set up our first homecamp at the KOA in Scott, LA, while I finished the school year (teaching) in May. We took off for South Dakota on June 3, 2008. This was our first "workamping" experience, just outside of Rapid City. We stopped in Arkansas to visit with our son and his family.....camping at Toad Suck Park right outside of Conway, AR. On June 6th, we landed at our "new home" for the next few months. The time passed quickly and we had such a wonderful time in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We met other wonderful workampers....and we are in touch with several of them today. After our "tour of duty" was up in SD, we made our way home to Lafayette, LA. But we made several stops along the way....we stayed in Arkansas for a week spending quality time with our grandkids. The kids had me telling some of their favorite ghost stories around the campfire. Our next stop was in Livingston, TX where we stayed three days. Our objective was to check out Rainbow's End campground, where we will workamping for the winter. We liked it and believe we will enjoy our "tour of duty" there. We then headed for our favorite R & R spot....Canyon Lake, TX, and we stayed there for two weeks. Finally, we were ready to head home, so we left Canyon Lake on October 15. It took us about eight and a half hours to get to the KOA in Scott, LA. They were waiting for us! After setting up, our first visit was with our son and his family....it was great seeing them again. We had our first meal, since arriving home, with them.
